Why We Love to Dive Here
We go to Mauritius for the heavyweights. While the reefs are beautiful, the real pull is the deep blue water and the resident sperm whales. Being in the water with an animal that size, which possesses that level of intelligence, is a spiritual experience. It changes the way you look at the ocean. The diving here feels dramatic, shaped by volcanic underwater architecture and the deep, open sea.
It’s not just about the whales, though. The topography is jagged and moody, full of arches, caves, and swim-throughs that play with the light. We love it because it feels like an expedition. It’s a place for divers who want to see the dramatic architecture of the ocean floor as much as the fish swimming over it.
